Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2025
This page explains what cookies and storage mechanisms we use on The Probability Lab, why we use them, and how you can control them.
Cookies We Use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sessionStorage (local) | Functional | Temporary session ID for "My Session" stats view | Session only (deleted on tab close) |
| __gads, __gac | Advertising | Google AdSense ad serving and frequency capping | Up to 13 months |
| DSID, IDE | Advertising | Google ad personalization and conversion tracking | Up to 1 year |
| _ga, _gid | Analytics (optional) | Google Analytics aggregate page view tracking | 2 years / 24 hours |
Session Storage (not a cookie)
We use browser sessionStorage — not a traditional cookie — to store a randomly generated session ID. This is functional and cannot be disabled without breaking the "My Session" stats feature. It is automatically deleted when you close your browser tab. It contains no personal information.
Advertising Cookies
Google AdSense sets advertising cookies to show you relevant ads and measure their effectiveness. These are third-party cookies controlled by Google, not by The Probability Lab. You can manage Google ad preferences at adssettings.google.com.
How to Control Cookies
